Mother's Day Card for Mom

Here’s my card for last week’s Viva la Verve sketch/inspiration challenge. This month’s inspiration room is crafting spaces. I was inspired by a room that featured a bright floral pattern.

I used the sketch and inspiration pieces to make a Mother’s Day card for my mom. I replaced the sketch’s circular panel with the pretty flower image from Verve's Love’s Flower set. The flower was stamped twice. I colored both images with Copic markers in bold shades of pink, then cut out a section of one of the colored flowers to layer on the other flower with foam tape. A tiny clear crystal is set at the center of the flower.

I stamped the sentiment from the Happy Days set in pink ink on a kraft panel. The rest of the card uses this same color combination—pink and kraft. I adjusted the sketch a little from a longer card to a standard sized A2 one and used some a solid pink panel and a strip of green ribbon to break up the larger, busy dotted panel. It’s bright and bold and a little bit modern—not necessarily a traditional Mother’s Day card, but I’m happy with how it turned out.

Materials Used:
Love’s Flower and Happy Days stamp sets (Verve Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Raspberry Fizz ink, Dotty Biscotti patterned paper, Spring Moss grosgrain ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Melon Mambo and Kraft cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); clear crystal (Martha Stewart)
