Winter Wishing

I guess you could say it’s been a year of extremes for weather in the DC area. We had foot upon foot of snow over the winter and now, it’s been hotter than hot for most of this summer (and we’ve had an earthquake, too!). Given the extreme heat, it felt nice to pull out some of my cold weather stamps for this week’s One Layer Card Challenge and for another of SCS’s Dare to Get Dirty challenges.

This took me about 10 minutes to pull together from start to finish. I love this mitten pair from Papertrey Ink’s Snowfall set! I also love non-traditional holiday card colors, so I made sure to use some in my card. Here, the mittens are stamped in Hawaiian Shores ink on an Aqua Mist panel. A red snowflake is stamped on each one and a teeny, tiny rhinestone is set at the center of each flake. I staggered the placement of the mittens to leave a natural opening for the “winter wishes” sentiment from Vintage Picnic Sentiments, stamped in red ink.

Materials Used:
Snowfall and Vintage Picnic Sentiments stamp sets, Hawaiian Shores and Pure Poppy inks, Aqua Mist cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions)
