Blogger Challenge: Week 166/Friends with Flair

This week’s blogger challenge is to use the colors red, green and yellow. I went the clean and simple route, combining just a bit of each color with lots of white space, to create this birthday card.

I started by stamping the birthday sentiment from Unity’s July Stampin’ Store Kit in black ink on a white card base. I used Copic markers in shades of red, green, and yellow to color in the letters that spell “birthday” for a little pop of color.

The trio of candles is made from scraps embossed with an embossing folder to add interest. I added a little flame to the top of each one, coated with Stickles for sparkle. Some pretty red crepe ribbon, tied in a bow, finishes off the festive card.

For more projects using these colors, you can check out what the rest of the challenge players have created. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right. And, for more Unity inspiration, check out the Friends with Flair list on the Unity blog.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Unity Stamp Co. July Stampin’ Store Kit, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (Y18, R24, YG13), QuicKutz Diamonds and Dots embossing folder, Ranger Yellow Stickles, Creative Impressions red crepe ribbon

other: white cardstock (Xerox); Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, and Certainly Celery cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); ¾” circle punch (EK Success)
