Whale of a Friend

The whale image in the new A Whale of a Time set from The Cat’s Pajamas is just too cute! I combined the image with this week’s TCP Tuesday challenge colors (denim, kraft, and candy apple red) and Mercy's latest sketch challenge for this fun card.

I stamped the whale image on kraft cardstock and embossed it with a polka dot embossing folder to add some texture. The image is spritzed with some shimmer spray for a sparkly look. I stamped the hat portion of the image again, this time on a scrap of red cardstock, then trimmed it and attached it to the whale for a pop of color. The whale is swimming in a die cut wavy sea against a cloudy background.

I used a strip of plaid patterned paper underneath the whale. The patterned paper panel is layered over a panel embossed with a swirly, wave-like pattern. I rubbed the raised parts with some shimmery white ink to add interest. A strip of kraft paper with a red ribbon along the center and a pair of blue Dew Drop accents runs across the card. I managed to squeeze the sentiment in on a kraft panel along the bottom of the patterned paper panel to finish the card.
