Catch the Wave
Clear and Simple Stamps is sponsoring this week’s Off the Wall Craftiness challenge and offering a generous gift certificate for one lucky challenge participant. This week’s challenge colors are navy, coral and white. Check out the fun collage below for some inspiration!
I went with a beachy themed card using the challenge colors, probably the last one I’ll do for a while now that fall’s approaching . . . I used images from the Surf set along with a bunch of scallop edged panels to create a simple watery scene.
I layered the True Blue Fan scalloped strips along the bottom section of the card, adding a strip of matching satin ribbon along the top of the scallops. A button, knotted with some twine, secures the wrapped ribbon in place.
I stamped the set’s fish image three times in the open white space above the scalloped water. I wanted it to look like the fish had been jumping out of the water, so I started by stamping the fish at the right first, then moved back to the left to stamp the other two fish without reinking for a softer look, kind of like a trail. I added a teeny, tiny crystal to the darkest fish’s eye, like it’s twinkling in the sunlight. The set’s “catch the wave” sentiment completes the card.
Materials Used:
Surf stamp set, True Blue Fan and A Blanc Check cardstock, True Blue Fan satin ribbon, True Blue Fan button (Clear and Simple Stamps); Cameo Coral Classic ink, Cameo Coral cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Tiny Twinkle (Taylored Expressions); medium scallop die, twine (Papertrey Ink)
