Something(s) Seasonal

Here are my cards for this month’s first two Viva la Verve challenges. I went seasonal and created both a fall and a winter holiday card between the challenges.

This one uses images from Verve's new Bountiful Harvest set. I stamped the pumpkin trio on cream cardstock in brown ink and colored the image with Copic markers.

I took my inspiration from the photo with the quilt-like placemat and used some patterned paper squares to make a quilted panel for behind my image panel. I arranged the squares on a cream panel and used my sewing machine to stitch between them. The image panel is layered over this quilt panel. I stamped the set’s “hello pumpkin” sentiment in orange ink on a round panel and layered that on the card.

Materials Used:
Bountiful Harvest stamp set (Verve Stamps); Pumpkin Pie Classic ink, Dusty Durango, More Mustard, and Very Vanilla cardstock, Really Rust and More Mustard Patterns DSP (Stampin’ Up!); Rich Cocoa ink (Memento); Buttercream cardstock (Taylored Expressions); markers (Copic); circle punches (EK Success); Terracotta Tile satin ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Bow Easy; sewing machine

This one is for the current Viva la Verve challenge. I was inspired by the photo of the candles and incorporated both the color scheme and the sheet music print into my design. It's a little more vintage-looking than my usual style, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I used a sentiment from Christmas in the Air as my focal image. It’s stamped in red ink on a cream panel. A piece of seam binding tape is knotted beneath it and a pair of layered felt snowflakes is set at the lower left corner of the sentiment panel as an accent.

The rest of the card came together very quickly. I used two different patterns from October Afternoon’s Good Cheer line on the cardfront—the music print and the cream and red snowflake print. I embossed the kraft ovals that are behind the sentiment with a snowflake embossing folder to add interest. Everything is arranged on a kraft card base. I machine stitched around the edge—more irregularly than I would have liked, but I guess that makes it look handmade—LOL!

Materials Used:
Christmas in the Air stamp set (Verve Stamps); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla cardstock, felt snowflakes (Stampin’ Up!); Good Cheer designer paper (October Afternoon); Snowflakes embossing folder (QuicKutz); petite oval dies (Spellbinders); crystal brad (Making Memories); seam binding tape; sewing machine
