Caardvarks Challenge: Make it Monochromatic
One of the highlight of each Clear and Simple Stamps release this year has been the introduction of a brand new Color Story that includes cardstock, ink (and reinker), double-faced satin ribbon, and buttons, as well as a coordinating Copic marker set. CSS Color Stories are designed to provide papercrafters with a fabulous range of coordinating and complementary colors Today, CSS is completing the Color Story line up, bringing the total to 38 unique Color Stories. You can check out the full array of colors and products here.
Since we’ve got color on our minds, it’s only fitting that Clear and Simple Stamps is the sponsor for the latest Caardvarks challenge to make a monochromatic card. I went with shades of blue—my favorite—for my seasonal card.
I used CSS’s new Hanukkah set for my card. The pretty menorah is the focal image. I inked it in True Blue Fan ink, omitting the candle flames, then stamped it on a Trendsetter Blue circle. I went back and dotted on spots of Bisque Liquid Pearls as small candle flames—love the pretty sparkle!
I used the set’s border bar image to make my own subtly patterned paper for the panel at the left side of the card. I stamped the border repeatedly in Trendsetter Blue ink on the Trendsetter Blue panel. All of the pieces are matted on True Blue Fan cardstock to set them off. I added a True Blue Fan button, tied with some blue baker’s twine, and a Trendsetter Blue satin ribbon flag, stamped with “Happy Hanukkah” from the Month-to-Month Extras set, to complete the card.
For more CSS inspiration, be sure to stop by the CSS iPhone app. A new project, exclusive to the app and complete with step by step directions, is posted every day. Here’s a tiny peek at what you’ll see on the app tomorrow--another card I've created using the Hanukkah set.
Materials Used:
Hanukkah and Month-to-Month Extras stamp sets, True Blue Fan and Trendsetter Blue inks, True Blue Fan and Trendsetter Blue cardstock, True Blue Fan button, Trendsetter Blue satin ribbon (Clear and Simple Stamps); circle dies (Spellbinders); Enchanted Evening baker’s twine (Papertrey Ink); Bisque Liquid Pearls (Ranger)
