Blogger Challenge: Week 186/Friends with Flair
This week’s blogger challenge is a sketch, provided by Lisa. I needed a birthday card for a friend, so I combined images from two Unity Stamp Co. kits for this feminine card.
I stamped the gift image from the Sweet Birthday Celebration kit in brown ink on a white panel and colored it in with Copic markers. The stars are covered with Yellow Stickles for a fun sparkle. And, I used some White Opal Liquid Pearls to add dimension to the cake--the pearls are dotted on each of the scallops.
I used two different coordinating patterns from the Alphabet Soup line from My Mind’s Eye for the panels on the cardfront. The striped panel covers most of the card. The dotted one is stitched around the edges to add interest. I stamped the “celebrate” sentiment from the It’s Your Day kit on this panel in brown ink. A strip of faux suede ribbon stretches across the card and the image panel is layered over that. I added a crystal flourish, too, for some extra sparkle. While I love how these look, I have a hard time working with them, so it was good for me to challenge myself to fit one into my design.
For more ideas using this sketch, you can check out what the rest of the challenge players have created. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right. And, for more Unity inspiration (and a chance to win some stamps, too!), check out the full list of Friends with Flair players on the Unity blog.
