Color Throwdown #126

I can’t believe this is my last week as a guestie at the Color Throwdown! I want to thank the team for having me join them this month—I’ve had a great time playing along with the challenges. This week’s Color Throwdown colors come to us from Danielle. The colors—Marina Mist, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, and Early Espresso—are inspired by the fabulous color combination in Basic Grey’s Marjolaine papers.

I know I used the Fun Fungi set from Clear and Simple Stamps for last week’s CTD card, but I couldn’t resist using it again, this time for a masculine card using this week’s colors. I used one of the set’s single mushroom images, cut with the matching die, for my focal image. The mushroom is colored with Copic markers in shades of warm gray and dotted with a little olive.

I cut a piece of plaid paper from the Marjolaine paper pad and used that to build a simple scene for my ‘shroom. I used a piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock and a border punch to make a grass strip and set that across the panel. A strip of dark brown twill runs underneath the grass. I added a green button, threaded with a little twine, to dress it up while still staying masculine. The mushroom’s added to the scene with some foam tape. I attached the strip to a Marina Mist card base. The set’s “hey fungi” sentiment stamped was stamped in olive ink on a scrap of Kiwi Kiss cardstock, then slipped under the edge of the image panel.

Be sure to check out what the CTD team has created using these colors. Here’s where to find them:
