Friends with Flair: Be Mine
It's finally Friday--and time for Friends with Flair! I made this Valentine's Day easel card using Unity's City of Love kit for the latest All Things Unity challenge. It's been a while since I've done one of these--I'd forgotten how fun they are to make!
I made a little scene by combining the kit's images. The buildings are set at the bottom, popped up with dimensional dots. I shaded them with a pale blue Copic marker to make the white a little less bright. The clouds are paper pieced with white cardstock and covered with Crystal Stickles for some sparkle. The blimp is stamped on a scrap of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye State of the Heart Collection Kit and popped up with thicker dimensional dots. Love having these in two different depths to add interest to a design! The panel is zig zag stitched to the red mat underneath for a fun detail. I used redline tape to attach the completed panel to the card base.
The card's base is dressed up with a dotted pattern from the same MME collection kit as I used for the blimp. So that the card would stand upright, I ran a strip of red faux suede ribbon across the base. I slipped a piece of a Labels 4 panel, stamped with the kit's "be mine" sentiment, underneath the ribbon's edge. A red button, tied with red baker's twine, is attached to the ribbon as a decorative element and helps to keep the card upright at the same time.
Be sure to stop by the Unity blog for the complete list of Friends with Flair players. You don't want to miss out on a chance to win some free stamps!
