Have a Sunshiney Day

Here’s my card for this week’s Paper Craft Planet sketch challenge, brought to us by Keely. After all the dark, dreary winter weather we’ve had lately, it was nice to make a super bright, sunshiney card.

I used the sweet Spring Rain set from the Cat’s Pajamas. The girl is colored with Copic markers in shades of bold pinks, yellows, and oranges. These aren’t colors I use too much, so it was a good opportunity to try them out. The umbrella was stamped a second time, colored, then dotted in pink—the reverse of the Sassafras Lass pattern I used to cover the cardfront. I used foam tape to attach it to the cardfront over her head.

The patterned paper panel is machine stitched around the edges. I added a bold pink ribbon strip down the center of the cardfront, then attached the image panel. For the shaped embellishment at the edge of the panel, I cut a felt sun and dressed it up with a button. Too cute!

Materials Used:
Spring Rain stamp set (The Cat’s Pajamas); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Count Me In Wee Bundle designer paper(Sassafras Lass); sun die (My Favorite Things); Harvest Gold felt, Orange Zest button (Papertrey Ink); pink grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); baker's twine (The Twinery); clear crystals (Imaginisce); sewing machine; foam tape
