You Make My Heart Spin

Did you see the exciting news here? Yes, that's right, I'm now a member of the Cat Pack, the design team for The Cat's Pajamas! I'm beyond thrilled to be a part of this amazing company and group of designers and I'm looking forward to sharing lots of fabulous TCP creations with you.

And, since I'm sharing that big news, it's only fitting that I share my card for this week's TCP Tuesday challenge along with it. This week's challenge is a long, tall sketch, courtesy of Leigh. I went more scrappy than stampy on this one, breaking out my pinwheel die for the very first time.

I made the pinwheel from a piece of double-sided patterned paper and after securing it with a brad, used a glue dot to attach it to a piece of wooden skewer. The pinwheel is attached to a piece of cloud patterned paper, again with glue dots.

I used paper with a subtle heart pattern for the 4 panels on the cardfront. I tried mixing and matching different patterns, but it didn't work for me, so I stuck with simple. Each panel is machine stitched around the edges to add interest (of course, my sewing machine's bobbin ran out of thread right in the middle of stitching one of the panels--never a dull moment . . .). After layering all of the panels in place, I tied a strip of red grosgrain ribbon around the card and stamped the "you make my heart spin" sentiment from the What a Blast stamp set in red underneath the ribbon. A trio of red brads underneath the cloud panel finishes the design.

I hope you'll give the sketch a try! Be sure to add your creation to the guestbook on Alma's blog to qualify for a chance to win the weekly Cat Cash drawing and to be considered for the coveted monthly Swanky Stamper award.

Materials Used:
What a Blast stamp set, Pinwheels Cutups die (The Cat's Pajamas); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, Bahama Bay and Daffodil Delight cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Love Me Do Collection Kit (My Mind's Eye); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); red and silver brads (Joann); sewing machine; wooden skewer
