There's a Song in my Heart

Happy Mother's Day to all who are celebrating today! If you're a regular reader, you probably know that my only kid is my furry one, Chloe the cutie puppy. I'm "celebrating" with her today by taking a trip to the dog park so she can play with her buddies--it's a lot of fun to watch her interact with them. She's such a social butterfly! After that I'm celebrating with my mom and family, then we'll call it a day!

Here's my card for this week's SCS featured stamper challenge. It's based on this lovely card. I used the super spring-like color combination from the latest Market Street Stamps color challenge--sky blue, citrus orange, and daffodil yellow--along with Market Street's Hippie Chic set for my version of the card.

I was really inspired by the way that the violin image was set over a die cut butterfly on the original card, so I included that element in my version. I stamped the set's guitar image on a piece of very thin birch wood that I picked up at the craft store, then carefully cut it out. I added a pair of light blue sparkly crystals to dress it up. The guitar is layered over a pair of butterflies (vellum and felt) die cut with an SU! die. I set the layered piece on a mango colored doily die cut, then attached it to a piece of cloud patterned paper. I stamped the set's "there's a song in my heart . . ." sentiment just beneath the image panel in blue ink just a bit darker than the clouds on the paper. Love the way this turned out--so light and airy and spring-like!
