Slow & Steady Birthday

Here’s my card for this week’s SCS sketch challenge. I combined the sketch with this week’s citrus inspired Color Throwdown colors—daffodil, kiwi, and tangerine—and the new Slow & Steady set from Our Craft Lounge. Kate has this set plus the other 3 brand new OCL releases in stock at i {heart} papers, so be sure to check them out.

I stamped the turtle, gift box, and balloons, doing a little masking so that the gift appears to be in front of the turtle. The images are colored with Copic markers. The set’s “happy birthday” sentiment is stamped on the turtle’s shell. I stamped the trio of balloons a second time, colored them, cut them out, and attached them to the image with a dimensional dot. They’re coated with a little Glossy Accents for a shiny look, too.

The rest of the card is pretty simple. I layered the image on tangerine (well, it's really pumpkin . . .) and kiwi cardstock. It's set on a daffodil panel with a plaid patterned paper strip along the bottom. For a little texture, I added some yellow scalloped velvet trim along the bottom of the patterned paper. The panel is layered on a kiwi card base, making a fun child's birthday card.
