Warm Thoughts
This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to create a clean and simple shaped card. I used a design I created a while ago (see it here) as a guide to make this super simple coffee cup of warm thoughts.
I traced the mug template on white and brown cardstock.
After trimming down the brown piece to form the cup bottom, I attached it to the white cup form. To set the cup's top apart from the cup itself, I cut a narrow strip of white cardstock with just the slightest curve and set it at the top of the brown cardstock, kind of like the rolled edge of the top of a hot to go cup. I ran a pale warm gray Copic marker along the top of the strip to add just a touch of shadow.
Once the cup was made, I added a corrugated paper "wrapper" to the cup. I ran some kraft cardstock through my paper crimper, then cut it to size. The corrugated panel is wrapped with some red baker's twine and secured with a fun red heart button. To finish things off, I stamped the "warm thoughts" sentiment from the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set just underneath the cup wrapper in white ink.
Materials Used:
Sentiment Sampler stamp set (Paper Smooches); white cardstock (Xerox); Close to Cocoa and Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Fresh Snow ink (Papertrey Ink); marker (Copic); red heart button (Blumenthal Lansing); red baker's twine (Divine Twine); paper crimper (Fiskars)
