Blogger Challenge: Week 218
This week’s blogger challenge is to make a project using a row from the provided tic tac toe board. The three items I chose are from the bottom row--buttons, die cuts/punches, and ribbon/seam binding.
I combined the challenge with this week’s Our Craft Lounge challenge (see all the details here) to make a clean and simple project featuring lots of dots and came up with this pencil holder that’s perfect for a small back to school gift. The project gave me one final opportunity to play along in this week's OCL/May Arts product swap showcase, too.
The base of the pencil holder is simply a strip of red cardstock with rounded corners at the top. I scored the cardstock a few inches from the bottom, folded it up, and secured it with sticky strip to make a pocket. An oval die was used to cut an opening to slide the pencils in to.
To decorate the pencil holder, I stamped the “abc123” sentiment strip from the School Notes set repeatedly in kraft ink on a white panel. After layering it on a kraft panel, I attached it to the front of the pencil holder. A strip of May Arts red dotted ribbon is wrapped around the pencil holder. The ribbon is embellished with a single red button.
Be sure to check out the OCL blog and the May Arts blog for the other designers sharing projects today and don’t forget to leave comments. May Arts sent us extra ribbon to share with you so we’ll have 3 BIG prizes to give away this Friday, August 22nd! You have lots of ways to enter EVERY DAY this week + one BONUS entry! Each day, leave comments…
1. on the OCL Blog,
2. on each designer’s blog (from the list of those playing along that day), and
3. on the OCL Facebook page.
And, if you “LIKE” OCL on Facebook, you’ll get a bonus entry (as long as you tell us you did it). AND… don’t forget to check out the May Arts blog for chances to win some great OCL stamp sets too.
