Jolly Good Day

I combined this week’s Kraftin’ Kimmie challenge to “get distressed” with this month’s Sketch for You to Try (sponsored by Kraftin’ Kimmie) for this card that's a little outside my usual style.

I have fond memories of time spent traveling in and around London, so I had to have this new Moonlight Whispers Elaine image with Big Ben in the background. I colored her in shades of olive and brown to go with the distressed, vintage-ish feel I was going for on my card. She is cut out and placed over a second colored image with foam tape. The background panel is inked around the edges with distress ink, again for a more vintage look.

I used both sides of a patterned paper from the Life Documented line from Simple Stories for the cardfront. The ledger pattern that covers most of the cardfront is distressed along the edges, inked with distress ink (again!), and machine stitched around the edges. I did a little distressing on the striped panel, too, before setting it on the card. The image panel is layered over the panel on an angle, with a strip of olive cardstock at the bottom. The coordinating “have a jolly good day” sentiment is stamped alongside the image panel in black ink.

Materials Used:
Moonlight Whispers Elaine stamp set (Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Crumb Cake and Old Olive cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Tea Dye distress ink (Ranger); Life Documented-100% Real Life designer paper (Simple Stories); copper brads (Making Memories); sewing machine; foam tape
