Out of This World

***Don't miss my card for this week's Color Throwdown in the post below.***

Here’s my card for today’s SCS sketch challenge. I was shooting for a fun little boy card and think I hit the mark.

I used the rocket from Papertrey Ink’s Boy Basics: Out of This World as my focal image. After die cutting and stamping the image, I colored it with Copic markers and a little silver Smooch. It’s set on a star embossed sky panel using foam tape. I sprayed the embossed panel with a little shimmer mist to give it just a subtle sparkle.

After layering the embossed panel on a red mat, I ran a contrasting strip of red grosgrain ribbon across the panel, adding a gold felt star at the end. The "you're out of this world" sentiment is stamped on the ribbon in black ink. The image panel is attached to a gold panel with a strip of striped paper from October Afternoon's Rocket Age paper-- the perfect finish for a space themed card, right?

Materials Used:
Boy Basics: Out of This World stamp set, Harvest Gold and White cardstock, rocket and star dies, Harvest Gold felt (Papertrey Ink); Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Sparkle Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Real Red and Not Quite Navy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Rocket Age 8x8 paper pad (October Afternoon); star impression plate (Taylored Expressions); Silver Fox Smooch paint (Clearsnap); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); foam tape

  1. Oh I do think you hit the mark with this one. It's cute and fun and would certainly work for a boy.
