Blogger Challenge: Week 223

This week’s blogger challenge is a sketch that’s great for showcasing a small image. I combined the sketch with this week’s Color Throwdown colors—Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, and Chocolate Chip—for this sweet thank you card.

The strawberry image from Papertrey Ink’s Fruit Fusion: Berry set was perfect as my focal image. The berry was die cut from white cardstock, then stamped. After inking the stamp in coral-ish ink, I rolled the edges in a darker red for a two-toned look. The image is attached to a pair of circles with foam tape.

I used the same coral color for the cardbase. To add interest to the single color, I embossed the bottom portion of the cardfront with a dotted pattern. After setting a chocolate panel along the right side of the card, I set a pair of layered cardstock strips across the cardfront, making a nice transition from the end of the embossed pattern to the solid cardstock. The thank you sentiment fit nicely on the smaller strip.

Before setting the image panel in place, I added some pieces of clear crystal flourish to represent the sketch’s flourish element. I’ve said a few times that using flourish things like these is outside my comfort zone and I’ve really been trying to stretch myself. I found it a little easier to get an arrangement that I liked on this card than I have on others—I guess the practice helps!
