Got My Eyes on You

This week’s Our Craft Lounge challenge is to make a treat holder. I have a bag of round candies wrapped in foil printed with eyeballs that make a perfect match for the “got my eyes on you” sentiment from the Monster Hugs set, so I created my project around that.

I used green cardstock to make a small box (about 2 1/2" long by 1 1/4" high) to hold a pair of the eyeball candies. It took me a few tries with scrap paper to get the box to work like I wanted it to, but it would actually be pretty easy to make a few of for little gifts.

The box’s lid flips up to reveal the pair of candy eyes inside. The candies sit inside the box on top of an insert with circles punched out to keep them from rolling around. The box is dressed up with some patterned paper panels on the sides—I chose a glittery one with an eye pattern to match my theme.

I made a belly band to hold the box closed. The sentiment is stamped on a circle panel that’s attached to the band with some black baker’s twine. I’m glad to get this project finished—Chloe the cutie puppy’s been keeping her own big brown eyes on the candies and I need to get them off my table and far out of her reach before she sneaks one (or more likely the whole bag, knowing her!) for herself. Not much gets by her watchful eyes!
