Sneaky Peek: Admit One for Birthday Fun
The Cat's Pajamas is gearing up for our October Release! It's been awhile since our last release, and boy, is this release going to be a fun one. With 7 New Stamp Sets and 4 New CutUps Dies, we'll be giving you a Sneaky Peek in our SCS forum each day.
Today we’re showing off a fun new set called Admit One. I used the set and the new coordinating Big Ticket CutUps die to make a birthday card and my card for this week's TCP Tuesday challenge from Susan to "Hype the Type." I think this one’s going to find its way to my best friend’s son on his birthday in a few weeks (so, Jake—if you’re reading this with your mom, step away!).
I started by making a strip of tickets. It was easy to do with the single die. I cut an 11” strip of kraft cardstock just slightly wider than the ticket die then ran the strip through my die cutting machine. I repositioned the die, holding it in place with a little blue painter’s tape, then ran the strip through my machine again. I repeated this two more times until I had a strip of tickets—2 whole ones and 2 partial ones. Depending on your placement of the die, you might end up with a slightly different configuration if you try this out. But, it does work—and pretty easily at that—so it makes the ticket die even more versatile.
After cutting the strip of tickets, I dressed them up by mixing and matching several of the set’s images, including the ticket frame, the star border, and some sentiments. To personalize it, I added the “8” a few times to represent the birthday boy’s age. Once I’d finished the decorating, I inked the edges with distress ink.
The rest of the card’s pretty simple. I let the ticket strip be the star of the show, cutting it on the diagonal to stretch across the card. It’s set over a panel of paper with a bold number pattern. I layered the patterned paper on a red mat, then wrapped a little baker’s twine around the panel, securing it with a blue button.
Want to win something?! All you have to do is comment on the In It to Win It thread in the forum. It can be about anything. The tutorial, techniques you like to use, some you'd like to see, the weather. Anything you want. Then each day during our Sneaky Peek Week, starting on Tuesday October 4, we'll randomly choose a winner from the comments on this thread. The winner will win the set that we are Sneaky Peeking that day.
And all you have to do to win is comment! The more comments the better. Easy Peasy. We'll announce the winner each day on the Sneaky Peek thread, and the winner has one week to PM Alma to claim their prize.
Be sure to stop by Alma’s blog for links to all of the Cat Pack members who are sharing sneaky peeks today. I’ll have another for you tomorrow—along with an exciting announcement . . .
