Here's my card for this week's
My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge. I made a sweet birthday card using the Pure Innocence Birthday Princess as my focal image.
The princess and cake are colored with Copic markers. I paper pieced her dress with a scrap of dotted designer paper. Her crown is dressed up with a few red crystal "gems." Boy, were those tiny things a pain to put in place, even with my little fingers!
She's layered on a star patterned paper panel that kind of goes with the card's birthday theme. For the rest of the card's layers and panels, I used colors that coordinated with the star paper. The set's "celebrate" sentiment is stamped on a piece of yellow ribbon that's edged with a kraft scallop edged strip. The final element is a glittery gold star set at the bottom of the image panel.
Even though it was the last thing I put in place on the card, the star was actually what inspired the entire card. When I saw the sketch, the first thing I decided was that I wanted to use a star shape for the element at the bottom of the image panel and the rest of the card's colors and theme were built around that one tiny element. Funny how that worked out!
