You Stole My Heart

It’s getting close to the time of year when everyone’s frantically working away on little treats to hand out at classroom Valentine’s Day parties. As a teacher, I remember those parties well (and I must admit that they were among my least favorite days of the school year—LOL!). I whipped up this quick and cute little treat box that would be a perfect classroom treat using one of the new Party Favor dies from Clear and Simple Stamps along with one of the critters from the Little Critters collection to dress it up.

I die cut the raccoon shape from gray cardstock, then stamped the matching raccoon image on the shaped piece. I added a few little details, like a pink nose (notice it’s an upside-down heart shape—too cute!) and some white flock on the tail. The Party Favor 1 box is cut from red cardstock and assembled with a little of CSS’s Simple Adhesive. I wrapped a band of black cardstock around the middle of the box, then used foam tape to attach the raccoon.

To decorate the handle, I die cut a tiny white tag using the smaller die from the Tags 1 set. After stamping the solid red outline image, I stamped the “you stole my heart” sentiment inside the border, accenting it with a tiny red heart. I used a bit of black baker’s twine and a red button to secure the finished tag to the handle.

And what’s inside? The box is filled with 5 Ghirardelli chocolate squares. Probably not what I’d choose to give a class of kindergarten students, but it gives you an idea of what the size of the box is. It would certainly hold a few candy kisses or mini candy bars—or even a non-sweet treat if you choose to go that route, and as a teacher, I’d thank you if you did!
