Lovebirds
I have to admit that the Paper Smooches booth was one of my favorites at CHA--partly because of the fabulous new sets I got to take a peek at and partly because of the wonderful people hanging out in the booth! It was nice to meet the talented designer behind Paper Smooches, plus a few other amazing stampers that were working alongside her. I came home totally inspired--and on that note, here’s my card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge. I was inspired by the little leafy branch in the photo along with the somewhat muted color combination.
Since I don’t have any Paper Smooches sets with floral images, I went with the trusty branch image from the Hang Ups set. I stamped it along with a pair of leaves directly on a piece of blue dotted patterned paper. I added a pair of birds with a tiny heart above them, then colored the open line images with Copic markers. The script “I love you” sentiment from the Word Salad set is stamped under the cluster of images.
The rest of the layout’s pretty simple. I arranged papers that matched the colors in the photo—light mossy green card base, striped yellow paper backed with a kraft panel—then added the colored image panel. A strip of light blue faux suede ribbon, anchored with a button tied with a little baker’s twine, adds a little texture to the simple design.
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers:
Paper Smooches Hang Ups and Word Salad stamp sets, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (E25, BG13, YG17, R24), Jillibean Soup Homemade 6 Bean Soup and Apple Cheddar Soup 6x6 paper pads, May Arts light blue faux suede ribbon, Divine Twine aqua baker’s twine
Other: Spring Moss cardstock, Kraft button (Papertrey Ink); Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
