B Is for Baby

The Clear and Simple Stamps design team is starting its “Release Review” of Collection 2 today. Over the next few days, the designers will be sharing fresh new projects featuring products included in last month’s release. Today’s focus is on background sets.

I used the Playroom set for this baby card in a non-traditional baby color scheme. The set’s alphabet strip is stamped repeatedly on the kraft cardstock panels in On the Catwalk Cream ink. The result is a subtle background that adds interest to the card without making it busy. I layered a giraffe, cut from a fun houndstooth patterned paper with one of the dies from the Baby Shower set, over the circle. A piece of yellow twine is tied around the giraffe’s neck for a whimsical touch.

I added the other kraft strip to the bottom of a yellow card base. A strip of black cardstock and a strip of dotted masking/washi tape are stacked above the kraft panel to add a nice mix of pattern and texture. I layered the panel with the giraffe over that and added a button accent. The “b is for baby” sentiment from the Punny Baby set is stamped around the edge of the circle panel—it seemed like a great match for the alphabet theme I started on the kraft panels.
