Just a Note

Here’s my card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks photo inspiration challenge. I took my cue from the photo’s color and from the piano to create this card using the current sketch from Retro Sketches.

To represent the musical element in the photo, I used the old-fashioned jukebox image from the Perpetual Bliss stamp set as my focal image. I colored it in shades of teal and gray, then used dimensional dots to attach it to a tag I cut myself. I stamped a few musical notes around the jukebox in gray ink, then stamped the “just a note” sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set at the bottom of the tag. I threaded the hole at the top of the tag with some light blue faux suede ribbon and secured it with a button and some gray baker’s twine. The side of the tag is accented with a strip of teal scallops cut with an Edgeabilities die.

I wanted to incorporate some circles because of the decorative plates hung above the piano in the inspiration photo, so I found a piece of teal patterned paper with a polka dot pattern and layered that on a pale gray card base. The finished tag is attached to the cardfront on an angle.

  1. LOVE this card Lori!!! The simplicity is fantastic and the jute box just pops off of the tag! I think this is the first time someone has combined a RetroSketches and a PS Sparks challenge together when it was my team's week. So glad you played both challenges! :)
