The die cut butterfly is the card's focal image. I cut a large butterfly shape from a piece of patterned paper using one of the dies from the Clear and Simple Stamps Butterflies 1 stamp set, then stamped the matching dotted outline image on the blue card base beneath the patterned paper.
The open shape is filled in with a pair of die cut butterflies--one cut from shimmery white cardstock and stamped with a matching solid image in light blue ink and one cut from white vellum. The vellum butterfly is attached to the cardstock one only at the center so its wings can be folded up, giving it the appearance of being in motion. To give the die cut piece some definition, I added a pair of pearls in the middle to make a body. The "with sympathy" sentiment from the All Occasions 1 stamp set is stamped underneath the butterfly in gray ink.
