Time to Hit the Beach

***Scroll down to the post below or click HERE to see my card for this week’s Color Throwdown!***

Here’s my card for today’s SCS sketch challenge. I’m loving the new My Island set from Waltzingmouse Stamps and had to ink it up again when I saw the sketch’s large image panel. The card also fits a few of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges on SCS.

I made a beachy scene for my focal image panel, starting off with a white panel inked with a few different shades of blue distress inks. Once the sky was completed, I added a pair of torn kraft strips at the bottom as sand, then stamped the set’s large palm tree image in gray ink for a shadowy look. The set’s “time to hit the beach” sentiment is stamped in the open space in blue ink. The entire panel was misted with some shimmer spray for a subtle sparkle.

I used a strip of blue patterned paper from a summer and beach themed paper pad for the panel underneath the image. It’s edged with kraft cardstock to set it off from the blue panel underneath it. I stretched a piece of natural twill across the strip, then wrapped a little twine around it for some texture before adding the image panel on top.

I’ll be back in the morning with another card featuring Waltzingmouse stamps . . .

Materials Used:
My Island stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Memento Gray Flannel and Bahama Blue inks, Frost Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko); Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Salty Ocean, and Stormy Sky distress inks (Ranger); Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Splash 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); natural twill (Wrights); hemp twine (Hemptique)
