You Blow Me Away
Here’s my card for this week’s Waltzingmouse sketch challenge. I didn’t stick to the sketch exactly, but I think you can still see the basic tag element with an image and sentiment in my interpretation.
I used the large pinwheel image from the new Playful Pinwheels set as my focal image. The pinwheel’s filled in with the matching patterned images, stamped in bold red and blue. Instead of coloring or stamping to fill in the pinwheel’s center, I added a star shaped brad to match the star pattern on the pinwheel. And, instead of using a stamped image to make the stick for the pinwheel, I used a piece of wooden skewer.
The whole thing’s attached to a kraft tag shape that I lightly inked with some distress ink. After tying some twine through the hole at the top of the tag, I attached it to a panel of ticking patterned paper. The “you blow me away” sentiment is stamped on a red notch-ended strip and layered over the tag, including the pinwheel’s stick. I anchored it with a little faux stitching.
Materials Used:
Playful Pinwheels stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Real Red and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Rhubarb Stalk, Nautical Blue, and Tuxedo Black inks (Tsukineko); Tea Dye distress ink, Inkssentials white pen (Ranger); Sasparilla-Rustler designer paper (October Afternoon); hemp twine (Hemptique); silver star brad (Recollections); wood skewer; foam tape
