Retro Happy Halloween

The cooler weather’s definitely put me in the mood for fall crafting projects—including Halloween ones, too! This one is based on this week’s Retro Sketches challenge and the current Lawnscaping challenge to use text in your project.

I picked up a bag of felt spider “buttons” recently to use on Halloween projects and the spider was a perfect fit for the sketch. I made three squares from sparkly silver paper and matted each on a black square before setting them on a piece of orange paper dotted with text print circles. The patterned paper’s not designed to be Halloween paper, but the color works perfectly on a Halloween themed card!

Once I had the squares in place, I stamped the “Happy Halloween” sentiment from the new Happy Everything set—this set really does have *everything* you need in it!—in black ink, then added one of the felt spiders “hanging” from a piece of twine. The twine has a shimmery silver thread running through it that definitely seems spider web-like. I added two eyes (even though the kindergarten teacher in me knows that spiders generally have more eyes than that!) to the spider with some silver Liquid Pearls for a final fun touch.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Lawn Fawn Happy Everything stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Teresa Collins Tell Your Story 6x6 paper pad, Maya Road sparkle silver twine, Ranger Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Basic Gray and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); silver paper (Michaels); felt spider button (Blumenthal Lansing)
