Retro Hello

This week’s Paper Smooches Sparks challenge was to be inspired by the retro themed photo seen here. I took my inspiration from the telephone in the image and the retro style of the illustration,  using a vintage style telephone and some retro colors--remember avocado green and harvest gold?--to represent those elements in my take on the challenge.

I stamped the rotary phone image from the Perpetual Bliss stamp set on white cardstock, omitting the phone cord, then colored it with Copic markers. To fill in the cord, I used a piece of twine that I twisted and adhered to the panel. The cord adds a fun twist and some texture to the design.

The image panel is layered over a green doily patterned paper. The “hello” sentiment from the Chit Chat set is stamped on a golden yellow cardstock strip that runs across the patterned paper. A narrow piece of dotted decorative tape is layered over the top edge of the sentiment strip to add another pattern to the mix.  A twine-threaded green button brings in a little more texture and another round element to soften the rest of the card's straight lines.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss and Chit Chat stamp sets, X-Press white Copic blending cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (YG21, YG91, YG93, YG95, BG0000, BG000, C-3), Jillibean Soup Grandma’s Lima Bean Soup 6x6 paper pad
