January Cloud9 Blog Hop

This month’s Cloud9 Blog Hop challenge is based on this fun, celebratory inspiration photo. I used the photo’s color scheme—kraft, black, and white with some sparkly star shaped elements—as the basis for my simple, festive design.

The card’s focal image is on a pair of layered tag dies. I stamped the sparkly star image from the A Pocketful set on a white tag die cut, then added some sparkly accents. The stars are filled in with Diamond Stickles and the center of each little burst image is dotted with a small, clear crystal. The tag is topped with a pretty white bow, made with the help of my Bow Easy.

I adhered the tag to a kraft card base, then added a strip of silver tape across the card, running just beneath the star image. The tape grounds the otherwise floating image—and makes it work nicely without the set’s pocket images. I stamped the “congratulations” sentiment from the Damask Doilies set on the tape in black ink. I’m pleased to report that both the ink and the Stickles dried without my managing to smear them!

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: WPlus 9 A Pocketful stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, May Arts white ribbon, Ranger Diamond Stickles, KaiserCraft clear gems, Bow Easy

other: Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Palette Noir Black ink (Encore); Traditional Tags Stax dies (My Favorite Things); silver tape
