Paper Smooches Sneak Peek

Paper Smooches is showing off their CHA release during the entire month of January. 37 designers are participating along with the PS DT, so there will be a ton of projects to inspire you this month. Paper Smooches is known for their fun and whimsical hand-drawn stamps. They decided that it was time to broaden their product line to include DIES and wood mount stamps!

I have two projects to share using two NEW PS products, Kibitzing Icons and Kibitzing Sampler, that release on February 1, 2013 at www.papersmoochesstamps.com along with many retail stores around the globe.

You will find a new blog link (or two) to follow every day in January at the PS Blog.

Paper Smooches is giving away $500 worth of product! Hidden on FIVE of the participating blogs is a prize package worth $100 each. The prize includes a variety of stamp sets, wood mounts and dies. Comment on as many blogs as you can to increase your chances to be one of the five winners.

Deadline is January 30th – winners will be announced on the PS Blog on January 31st.

I am super excited to be a part of this special Paper Smooches preview event. I’m always looking for stamp sets that I can use to make cards for my family and friends for the Jewish holidays and these sets are just perfect!

Here’s a sweet project I made using both sets. It’s traditional to eat apples and honey at the start of the Jewish New Year as a way of expressing hope for a sweet new year. I used the apple and honey image from the Kibitzing Icons set along with a sentiment from the Kibitzing Sampler set to make a tag to dress up a gift of apples and honey. The image is stamped on a partial circle of cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I added the colored image to a kraft tag along with some dotted washi tape. The “l’shana tova” sentiment, which is a traditional greeting for the new year, is stamped on a red notch-ended strip and added to the tag beneath the colored image.

I couldn’t find honey sticks anywhere (apparently, they’re a somewhat seasonal item!), so I made my own with clear straws closed off at the ends with washi tape. I put my homemade honey sticks in a clear bag with an apple and secured the bag closed with my tag and some baker’s twine.
And, the images in these sets aren’t just great for holidays. I made a fun congratulatory card using the “chai five” sentiment from the Kibitzing Sampler set and the Helping Hands set.

For this one, I colored one of the hand images with Copic markers, cut it out, and used foam tape to place it on a pair of layered circles. The “chai five” sentiment is tucked underneath the hand, extending off of the panel. I layered the panel over a strip of twine wrapped cardstock set on top of a navy blue dotted panel. A little machine stitching gives the panel a finished look.

Thanks so much for stopping by today—and good luck on the big Paper Smooches giveaway!
