Paper Smooches SPARKS February Cool Shades Challenge

This week's  Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Cool Shades challenge using the colors seen in the swatch above--red, chocolate brown, aqua, and cream.  I used the cupcake die from PS's new line of dies (Kate has a bunch of them in stock now at i {heart} papers!) along with the new Birthday Sampler stamp set for this sweet card. The colors are perfect for a yummy-looking birthday cupcake, right?

I cut the top of the cupcake from brown cardstock, then used a piece of cream and aqua chevron patterned paper to cut the cupcake base.  It's assembled on a cream panel with strips of aqua and red cardstock along the bottom for a color blocked look.

The cherry on top of the cupcake is also made with one of the dies in the cupcake die set.  I cut it from red cardstock and colored the stem with a brown marker.  After I attached it to the top of the cupcake with a dimensional dot, I coated the round part with Glossy Accents for a shiny look.  The "wish big" sentiment is stamped on a red notch-ended strip and attached to the cupcake with another dimensional dot.

  1. Lori, that cupcake is SO cute! I love the shiny cherry you added, and the colorblocking was a great way to show off this week's colors!
