Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 177-Snow Day

It’s time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! I combined the sketch with the current The Cat’s Pajamas fan challenge to create a project featuring the TCP penguins and came up with this wintery creation.

I picked the penguin from the Snow Kisses set. I colored him just a bit with Copic markers, then paper pieced the snowflake using some silver paper. Cutting the snowflake was a little tedious, especially since I had to do it twice thanks to Chloe the cutie puppy chewing up my first completed image—she managed to snag it after I’d finished the coloring and cutting and before I got it on my card. Some days she’s lucky she’s very cute . . .

I used two different patterned papers from a DCWV paper stack for the panels on my cardfront. The seam between the papers is hidden by a strip of light blue twill. I adhered the penguin to a snowflake embossed panel using foam tape. The snowflakes are rubbed with some shimmery white ink to highlight them a bit. Once I had the penguin in place, I stamped the “there’s no day like a snow day” sentiment. Instead of adding another embellishment at the right side of the image panel, I just adhered a knotted piece of twill matching the one running across the cardfront.

To play along, just create a card based on the sketch and link it up on Karen’s blog. For lots of inspiration be sure to check out what the other Sweet Sunday Sketch stampers have created for you this week. Here’s where to find them:
