Waltzingmouse Stamps February Blog Dance-Doily Duo

Here’s my take on this month’s doily challenge for the Waltzingmouse Stamps blog party. I’ve been using a lot of paper doilies on my creations lately, but for this card, I put them aside in favor of some stamped ones.

My doilies are from the Waltzingmouse Large Doily stamp set. I stamped them on a pretty pink on pink patterned paper in white ink, then heat embossed them with white embossing powder so they’d really stand out against the background.

I layered a solid rose cardstock strip between the two doily images, then stamped the “for my friend” sentiment on the panel in gray ink. I like the softer look of gray (rather than black) with the feminine pinks and roses on this card. To balance the heavy bottom of the card, I added a pair of layered notch-ended cardstock strips at the top. A twine-tied button adds one more soft, rounded element to the design.

Materials Used:
Large Doily and Compact Sentiments stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Gray Flannel ink (Tsukineko); white ink (WPlus9); Autumn Rose cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Basic Gray cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Paris Girl 6x6 paper pad (Carta Bella); white embossing powder (Michaels); white hemp twine (Hemptique); white button
