Chin up Buttercup

Here’s my card for this month’s Mama Elephant sketch challenge. I kind of flipped the sketch around a bit to get my version, but it does include all of the design elements.

I used the “chin up buttercup” sentiment from the new Say What set as the jumping off point for my design. To go with the buttercup theme, I started off with a buttery yellow cardstock panel. I adhered a stray piece of paper doily left over from another project to the yellow panel, anchoring it with some plaid patterned decorative tape. I stamped the sentiment on a bright pink notch-ended strip and added that over the top edge of the decorative tape.

I finished things off with a yellow felt rolled flower (“buttercup”) with a pearl center and green felt leaves. The panel is set on a pink card base for a nice, cheery pop of color.  We're expecting our first (and probably last!) significant snowfall of the winter season today, so I think something bright and cheery is in order right about now!

Materials Used:
Say What stamp set (Mama Elephant); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Barely Banana and Melon Mambo cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); felt (Papertrey Ink); Fishtail Flag Layers Stax and Rolled Flower die (My Favorite Things); decorative tape, self-adhesive pearl (Michaels); paper doily (Wilton)
