TCP Tuesday-4U

This month’s TCP Tuesday challenge is a color challenge with a twist. The colors are neutrals--black, white, kraft, and/or cream--plus one color of your choice. The added twist is using only one patterned paper and keeping your card to just two layers (not including the card base as a layer). I tend to lean towards clean and simple designs, so it wouldn't seem that a limited color and layer challenge like this one would be too difficult, but for some reason, this challenge was tricky for me.

Here’s what I came up with using the Peeking set. I colored the bear image with Copic markers in shades of krafty-brown and cream. I left the gift box uncolored so I could paper piece it with a mix of patterned and solid papers. My patterned paper has rose chevron stripes on a kraft background—perfect for the challenge, right? I used the pattern to cover the gift box, then filled in the ribbon/bow with a solid rosy pink. The set’s little tag with the “4U” sentiment was stamped on a scrap of kraft cardstock and cut out, then adhered to the gift box with foam tape.

To keep with the challenge’s two layer limit, I didn’t mat the colored image panel with coordinating cardstock. Instead, I set it on top of a patterned paper panel over a strip of rose grosgrain ribbon. I added a beige linen thread tied button at the edge of the image panel as an accent.

Here are all the details on the TCP Tuesday challenge:
  • The first Tuesday of the month, Alma will post a challenge on her blog. The challenge will also be posted on our Splitcoaststampers forum and on our Facebook page
  • If you want to play along you just upload your design to Alma's blog using the InLinkz button (The challenge button will be posted on the right hand column of the blog so you don't have to search around). If you want to display your pretties on Splitcoaststampers using keyword TCPTUESMar13
  • The Challenge will be a month-long challenge and you can play as many times as you like during that month. Cards and projects must have at least one Cat's Pajamas stamp or CutUps die in the project.
  •  On the first Monday of the month a winner will be chosen from the previous challenge and crowned Swanky Stamper. The winner will be announced on Splitcoaststampers, Facebook page and Alma's blog.
  • The Swanky Stamper will not only be acknowledged as the Swankiest Stamper for that month, but will also receive some of the stamps from our next release and get to play along with us at our Pajamas Party and Blog Hop. AND... They'll even get a special spot in the Gallery highlighting the project that won them the gig AND as snazzy badge to display on their blog.
Be sure to stop by Alma's blog for more inspiration from The Cat Pack.  Hope you'll join us and play along!
