You Are My Sunshine
Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. My eye was drawn to the use of the negative space to frame the focal image on the inspiration card, so I used that as the starting point for my design.
Instead of using a flower as the focal image, I made a mini scene with a colorful die cut rainbow and sun and fluffy white felt clouds. To get the feel of a window, I used a banner die with one curved side--it kind of looks like a fancy, arched window frame. I arranged the pieces so that the sun and clouds extended beyond the negative space over the white frame, just like the flower’s petals in the inspiration card.
I stamped the “you are my sunshine” sentiment at the bottom of the panel and wrapped some twine just above the words, securing it with a bow. I used foam tape to adhere the panel to a piece of yellow gingham designer paper, again inspired by the inspiration piece and its yellow print background. The panel is set on a coordinating yellow card base.
Materials Used:
Sun Sentiments stamp set, rainbow, clouds, and sun dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); Vivid Beach Glass ink (Clearsnap); Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Stella and Rose-Gertie “Friends Forever” Tapestry designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); Rounded Banner Stax die (My Favorite Things); Caribbean baker’s twine (The Twinery); white felt; foam tape
