What's Up?

Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. I was inspired by the colors and dotted pattern in the inspiration piece, as well as the die cut window panel with a sentiment peeking through. I liked the asymmetrical layout, so I made sure to incorporate that element, too.

I started by making my own version of a dotted pattern with two strips of washi tape on a white panel. I carefully lined up the pattern when I set the tape down so it appeared like one wide, seamless strip.

After that was in place, I added my window element.  My version is a speech bubble shaped opening cut in a green panel using a die from Simon Says Stamp. The dotted outline of the speech bubble shape and the “what’s up?” sentiment from a coordinating stamp set are visible through the opening. I wrapped the bottom of the panel with some turquoise baker’s twine and secured it with a bow before adding a black scallop edged strip along the panel’s right edge. I attached two silver brads to the top corner, then used foam tape to put the panel in place on the cardfront.  To bring in a little more of that blue--one of my favorite colors!--I set the finished panel on a blue card base.

Materials Used:
Talk Bubbles 2 stamp set, Talk Bubbles 2 die  (Simon Says Stamp); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Simply Chartreuse and Hawaiian Shores cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Whisper White cardstock, scallop edge punch (Stampin' Up!); black dotted washi tape (My Mind's Eye); silver brads (Michaels); Caribbean baker's twine (The Twinery); foam tape
