A Little Something for National Scrapbooking Day
Here's a simple, easy to mail card based on this week's sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping. I also took some inspiration from Dawn's Monday Mood Board #11 to put this one together.
The neutral color scheme from the mood board caught my eye, so I tried to capture that in my design. I started off by stamping the sentiment in Rich Cocoa ink on a kraft panel. Once that was in place, I randomly stamped the three different sized flowers from the WPlus9 Blanket Stitched Blooms set across the panel. I filled in the flower with the matching solid image stamps using a combination of Toffee Crunch ink (a kraft-like color), a white pigment ink, and a bit of the dark Rich Cocoa ink, too. For contrast, I left the leaves unfilled. The edges of the panel were inked with some distress ink to add a little depth to the flat kraft panel.
Since there wasn't any dimension in the images, I wanted to add a little something to the flowers. I finally settled on some Diamond Stickles dotted on each flower center. I managed to smear only one of the dotted parts, which is much better than my usual track record when Stickles are involved! The stamped panel is matted on a dark brown panel, then adhered to a cream card base.
I hope you get a chance to do something creative for National Scrapbooking Day today. I don't scrapbook (Chloe the cutie puppy and I don't do much that's worth recording on a scrapbook page--LOL!), but I'll be working on some projects for the upcoming week. Don't miss the big sale at i {heart} papers in honor of NSD--use the code NSD2013DT to get 10% off of your order of $40 or more (valid through May 6). It may be stamps, Copics, paper or whatever you'd like! And, as always, free shipping on your $70 US order. Happy scrapping, stamping, and shopping!
