Glad You're My Dad

Here's my card for this week's sketch at CAS(e) this Sketch.  It also doubles as my entry for Verve's current stars and stripes Diva Dare.

I used the sketch to make a simple Father's Day card.  For my striped element, I adhered a piece of multicolored striped designer paper at the bottom of a Sahara Sand panel.  The "I'm so glad you're my dad" sentiment from Verve's Father Figure stamp set above the striped paper panel using ink just a bit darker than the cardstock panel.

For my star elements, I die cut a trio of cork stars and arranged the stars along the top edge of the patterned paper.  Cork's one of my favorite things to use on masculine cards to add interest and texture. The finished panel is adhered to a brown card base that matches the color of of the stripes in the patterned paper.  I think I might hold on to this one to give to my dad for Father's Day next month . . .

Materials Used:
Father Figure stamp set (Verve Stamps); Wet Cement ink (Hero Arts); Sahara Sand and Soft Suede cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Boy Crazy 6x6 paper pad (My Mind's Eye); CutUps 3x3 Stars die (The Cat's Pajamas); cork sheet (Canvas Corp.)
