Wonderful Watercolor

Here’s my card for this week’s Fusion challenge. I combined the sketch with several elements from the inspiration photo for this feminine design. I don’t watercolor often since I don’t think I’m very good at it, but I gave it a shot here—and I have to say, it didn’t turn out terribly!

I started out by stamping and heat embossing some flower and leaf images from the Simon Says Stamp Best Mom Ever stamp set on watercolor paper. The images were filled in using a bunch of different distress markers and a waterbrush to blend the colors.

Once the watercolored images were dry, I cut them out and arranged them on the cardfront over a half of a paper doily and a panel of yellow paper with a subtle floral print. The stamp set’s thank you sentiment is stamped beneath the flowers in black ink. The black of the Versafine ink looks almost as bold and dark as the black embossing even without being embossed, which I was trying to avoid doing since I spilled the container of black embossing powder when I was embossing the flowers and leaves . . .

Materials Used:
Best Mom Ever stamp set (Simon Says Stamp); Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko); Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Barn Door, Worn Lipstick, and Spun Sugar distress markers (Ranger); Blushing Bride cardstock, black embossing powder (Stampin' Up!); Apple Cheddar Soup-Dried Thyme designer paper (Jillibean Soup); paper doily (Hobby Lobby); foam tape
