Birthday Dash

Here’s my card for the current 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge. I combined the challenge colors—navy, celery, and coral—with the current sketch from Retro Sketches to come up with this birthday card.

I die cut different pieces of cardstock with the Lil’ Inker Designs party hat die, then arranged several of the different pieces to form the party hat you see on the card. The hat is attached to a piece of coral patterned paper with foam tape. For the sentiment, I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from the Balloon Builders stamp set in navy ink on a celery strip. The stamped strip and a slightly shorter navy strip are adhered to the patterned paper panel extending out from underneath the hat. I matted the patterned paper panel on a piece of coral cardstock, then centered it on a navy card base. I wanted to add a little embellishment to the hat, but when I checked my clock, I’d already been working on the card for 9 minutes and 37 seconds, so I called it quits!

Materials Used:
Balloon Builders stamp set, party hat die (Lil’ Inker Designs); Memento Nautical Blue ink (Tsukineko); Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, and Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Bright Side 6x6 paper pad (Lawn Fawn); foam tape
