You Light up My Life
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Picture Perfect challenge. I was inspired by the photo’s color scheme and the bright ball of sunlight. Instead of using a sun on my card, I went with a different light source—the lighthouse found in the Smoocheroos stamp set.
The layout for my card comes from this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I used distress inks to make a background panel for the lighthouse image. To get the defined beam of light, I did some masking with sticky notes before sponging on the different distress inks. I added a torn strip of kraft cardstock along the bottom to make a sandy base for the lighthouse image. I stamped the lighthouse on white cardstock and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers, then cut it out and adhered the image to the panel with dimensional dots. The “you light up my life” sentiment is stamped in the beam of light in black ink.
I covered a kraft card base with a piece of yellow patterned paper, then added a strip of coordinating solid yellow cardstock along the left edge of the panel. The yellow cardstock is wrapped with some orange baker’s twine. I added a matching orange button on top of the twine and adhered an orange fishtail flag strip to the panel, extending out from the bottom of the button. I used another panel of orange cardstock to mat the image panel before adhering it to the cardfront.
And, before you go, just a reminder that you have a couple more days to take advantage of the summer sale at i {heart} papers--where I get my Paper Smooches stamps and dies and lots of other goodies. Use the coupon code JULY13DT for 20% off of your purchase. Happy shopping!
