Aiming for Your Heart

Here’s my card for the current challenge at The Paper Players. I used the sketch along with stamps from My Favorite Things to create this love themed design.

I started off by running a strip of chevron patterned washi tape diagonally across a red cardstock panel, then added a narrow gray strip above and below the washi tape. Once the stripes were in place, I attached a die cut cork heart over them. The target image from the Right on Target set is at the center of the heart on a pair of layered circles. Originally I’d stamped the target right on the heart using MFT’s Electric Red ink, but it looked kind of lost inside the bigger cork piece, even stamped in the bold red color. The circles helped to draw attention to it, as did the red crystal I added to the center of the target!

To create the trio of single chevrons that sit on the top gray cardstock strip, I die cut a long chevron strip from black cardstock using MFT’s Chevron Stripes die, then trimmed it apart with my scissors. The “I’m aiming for your heart” sentiment is stamped in black ink beneath the trio of stripes. I used Versafine’s Onyx Black ink for a nice, bold stamped image. The finished panel is adhered to a contrasting black card base.

Materials Used:
Right on Target stamp set, Electric Red ink, Electric Red and Steel Blue cardstock, Chevron Stripes and Hearts a Plenty dies (My Favorite Things); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko); Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); circle punches (EK Success); black chevron washi tape, red crystal (Michaels); cork sheet (Canvas Corp)
