Color Throwdown 254-I'm Pulling for You

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! We’re super excited about this week’s challenge because, in addition to welcoming a new guest designer, we’re also welcoming two new designers to the CTD team—Melody Rupple and Vickie Zimmer. Be sure to stop by and welcome them to the team.

This week’s challenge is hosted by Barbara. She’s chosen Daffodil Delight, Kiwi Kiss, Brilliant Blue, Pool Party, and Crumb Cake as our colors. I put together this sweet, encouraging card using the colors and the Pure Innocence A Cart Full of Friends set from My Favorite Things. The girl image is partly colored with Copic markers. Her dress is paper pieced with a scrap of cheery yellow gingham paper. The wagon she’s pulling is filled with a pair of stuffed animal friends that I added in the cart with help from a masking technique. My mask was made from a piece of correction tape—I used to use it all of the time in my kindergarten classroom as “boo-boo” tape to cover mistakes children made in their group writing projects, so it’s nice to see it having uses in my craft room, too! I cut out the images and added them to an aqua panel with a strip of die cut dotted green grass along the bottom.

I layered the image panel on a yellow mat, then set it on a green card base over a gingham panel matching the little girl’s dress. The “I’m pulling for you” sentiment is stamped on a kraft cardstock strip and attached to the top of the image panel. It’s accented with a piece of knotted yellow grosgrain ribbon.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD254.

Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and August’s guest designer, the talented Kendra Wietstock. We’re thrilled to have Kendra joining us this month.
