It’s time for another Color Throwdown! This week’s challenge is hosted by Broni. She’s chosen a bold and bright color palette of Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, and Pixie Pink as our colors. I put together this fun birthday card using the colors and one of the rag dolls from Clear and Simple Stamps along with this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches.
The die cut rag doll image is partly colored with Copic markers. Her dress is paper pieced with a scrap of pink star patterned paper. I used markers to color in the banner she’s holding in her hands, then stamped the “HB2U” sentiment inside the flags. The HB2U stamp is made so that it’s spaced to fit perfectly inside the individual flags—love that!
I layered the finished rag doll image on a turquoise gingham panel using foam tape. The panel is matted with bright pink cardstock, then set over a piece of tangerine dotted paper, also matted with pink cardstock. The pieces are adhered to a white panel. The bold colors really pop against the white background! I stamped the set’s “wish big on your special day” sentiment at the bottom of the panel, then added a trio of buttons to the patterned paper panels as an accent—and to get in just a tiny bit of Pacific Point into the design, too!
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD255.
Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our August guestie, Kendra Wietstock.
