You're Bootiful
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Trend Watch challenge featuring lace. I took my inspiration from the look of the lace, plus the black and orange color scheme in the photo to create this card based on the current Mojo Monday sketch.
I started off by picking two patterned papers from Doodlebug Design’s Halloween Parade collection. I covered the cardfront with a fun orange on orange pattern, then cut a fishtail flag strip from a multicolored striped patterned paper. I set a lacy white doily over the patterned paper panel, then wrapped a piece of orange faux suede ribbon over the panel, securing it with a knot. The fishtail flag strip is layered over the doily and ribbon.
I stamped the “you’re bootiful” sentiment from the Spookalicious set on a gray panel in black ink, then added a white ghost to the left side of the panel, using dimensional dots to set it off from the rest of the card. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the ghost is two layers—a white cardstock one and a vellum one. The vellum overlay softens the stamped lines a bit and makes the white look a bit more transparent and ghost-like. I attached the sentiment panel to the cardfront, overlapping the doily and striped panel, then added a trio of orange enamel dots as a fun accent.
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Spookalicious stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Doodlebug Design Halloween Parade designer paper, Tangerine Orange Sprinkles enamel dots, May Arts orange faux suede ribbon, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: Basic Gray and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); white vellum (The Paper Company); Die-namics Fishtail Flag Layers Stax die (My Favorite Things); white paper doily
