Happy Hanukkah--A Little Late . . .

This week’s blogger challenge theme is holidays. Even though it’s now officially over for this year, I made a Hanukkah card for the challenge. It also serves as my entry for this week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS free for all challenge.

Happy Hanukkah-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps from Paper Smooches
I used the Kibitzing Icons and Kibitzing Sampler sets for my card.  These two sets are perfect for many Jewish holidays and special occasions.  I stamped the dreidel image (from the Icons set) on kraft cardstock to get a woodgrain look. It’s heat embossed in white and the letters on the dreidel are colored with a distress marker. A little distress ink rubbed on the stamped image enhances the wood-like look.

I used foam tape to adhere the dreidel image to a white panel with navy and gold cardstock strips across it. I stamped the “Happy Hanukkah” sentiment (from the Sampler set) at the top of the panel in navy ink. A few gold sequins are scattered next to the dreidel as gelt, the traditional chocolate coins used in the game. I matted the image panel on gold paper, then adhered it to a navy card base.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Kibitzing Sampler and Kibitzing Icons stamp sets, Tsukineko Memento Nautical Blue and Memento Luxe Wedding Dress inks, Ranger Faded Jeans distress marker, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Tea Dye distress ink and Faded Jeans distress marker (Ranger); Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Marshmallow cardstock (Bazzill); 24 Karat Gold cardstock (Clear and Simple Stamps); white embossing powder, gold sequins (Michaels)
